Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti appeared in court on Wednesday (Wednesday) for tax evasion. And insisted he had no thoughts of fraud.

The Italian is accused of failing to pay up to €1m in taxes on his earnings during his first spell in charge of Madrid between 2013 and 2015.
The allegations against Ancelotti allege that he only paid taxes on his wages from Los Blancos. But did not include any income from his image rights. Prosecutors
are hoping to sentence Ancelotti to four years and nine months in prison and a fine of €3.2m. However, Ancelotti has told the court he has never thought of evading taxes. The
65-year-old said he earned a total salary of €6m a year and left the details to his financial advisers.
“I think it’s quite normal because previous players and coaches did the same,” Ancelotti said.

Over the years Spanish football has also been hit with tax evasion allegations. With Lionel Messi being fined €252,000 in 2017 after initially being given a suspended 21-month prison sentence, and
in 2019 Cristiano Ronaldo settled a case and paid €18.8m in fines, while José Mourinho was fined €2.2m over tax charges during his time in charge of Madrid between 2011 and 2012.
