La Liga cuts Barca’s spending cap amid VIP seat deal issues

Barcelona have been hit with another cost ceiling blow. After it emerged a deal worth €100m (£142m) for VIP seats at Camp Nou. Was not included in the club’s accounts.

LaLiga said the club hired auditors on December 31. And submitted evidence certifying that the VIP seats deal was included in their accounts for the 2024-25 season.

The VIP seating deal was an important part of meeting Barca’s cost ceiling despite the delay. And it also allowed a court to grant Dani Olmo and Pau Victor three months to register.

the latest issue La Liga has encountered is that Barca have named three auditors to La Liga in just three months. And two of the auditors did not include the VIP seats deal in their accounts to the league.

Grant Thornton, the firm that was auditing Barca until December 31, submitted their financial statements without any mention of the VIP seats deal. Before an unnamed auditor conducted the audit for four days and then a third by Crowe.

La Liga have also stated that according to the accounts provided to them by Grant Thornton, Barca did not have the budget to register Olmo and Victor at any time.

They therefore informed Barca that the club’s budget had been reduced. They will also refer the matter to the Court of Sport and appeal against an anonymous auditor who audited

the period between December 31 and January 3. Olmo and Victor have play for Barca as permitted by the court. And the club are on a 19-game unbeaten run. And are in contention for three trophies.
